The Holy Month Of Ramadan

Ramadan is the ninth month in the Muslim lunar calendar; Ramadan is also the most sacred month of the year for Muslims. They observe this sacred month of Ramadan to mark when Allah sent an angel to Prophet Muhammad to reveal the Quran, the Islamic holy book, in 610 AD.  The Prophet Mohammed reportedly said, "When the month of Ramadan starts, the gates of heaven are opened and the gates of hell are closed and the devils are chained." Muslims believe it was during this month that God revealed the first verses of the Quran, Islam's sacred text, to Mohammed, on a night known as "The Night of Power" (or Laylat al-Qadr in Arabic). During the entire month of Ramadan, Muslims fast every day from dawn to sunset. It is meant to be a time of spiritual discipline and a time of deep contemplation of one's relationship with God, extra prayer, increased charity and generosity, and intense study of the Quran. The beginning and end of Ramadan changes every year as it’s based on the Islamic lunar calendar and the moon cycles.

Phases of the Moon

The start of Ramadan is determined by the sighting of the new crescent moon by religious leaders. Although Muslim’s wait for the new moon’s appearance before announcing the first day of Ramadan, they also estimate the arrival. Ramadan is predicted to begin on 12 April this year (2021) and end on 12 May with the Eid al-Fitr celebration. The month of Ramadan usually lasts between 29 to 30 days, depending on when the new crescent moon is sighted.

A special three-day festival called Eid al-Fitr (the Festival of the Breaking of the Fast) marks the end of Ramadan. It begins when the first sight of the new moon is seen in the sky. It’s a joyous occasion, with Muslims celebrating the end of fasting and giving thanks to Allah.

During the three days, Muslims attend prayers in the morning and visit loved ones and neighbors. Then they enjoy a delicious traditional feast with friends and family. Children are often given presents, and it’s custom to donate to those in need. As a symbol of unity, Ramadan is a time when Muslims from all over the world come together to celebrate their faith.

In recent days, countries including France, Denmark, Ireland and Thailand have temporarily suspended their use of AstraZeneca’s corona virus vaccine after reports that some people in Denmark and Norway who got a dose developed blood even though there’s no evidence that shows that the shot was responsible. The European Medicines Agency and the World Health Organization says that the data available do not suggest the vaccine caused the clots and that people should continue to be immunized. Other countries that have temporary stopped the use of AstraZeneca include Germany and Italy are the latest to temporarily suspended the use of AstraZeneca's corona virus.

Prophet Rufus Phala Makes His Congregation to Drink Jik Detergent

A controversial South African pastor known as Prophet Rufus Phala, with AK Spiritual Christian Church, Makgodu, Limpopo in the north eastern area of South Africa, gave his members Jik household bleach to drink as a sign of faith during church service on Sunda.

It is not the first time Prophet Rufus hits the headline for the wrong reasons, sometimes back he shocked his followers and outsiders when he made his church members drink Dettol.

According to Daily Sun SA, Prophet Rufus made his church members drink jik during Sunday service.

Prophet Rufus reportedly told the congregation to drink the antiseptic liquid, promising they will be healed of their sickness.

Report has it that the police in Limpopo are investigating the incident after some people were allegedly affected after drinking the bleach. 

He instructed his followers to drink the disinfectant, while also acknowledging that it was dangerous to do so.

“I know Dettol is harmful, but God instructed me to use it. I was the first one to drink it,” the pastor said.

Bobi Wine Health Worsens In Uganda

Things are getting worse on the arrest and health condition of musician-turned politician Robert Kyagulanyi, alias Bobi Wine, also reffered to as ‘Omubanda Wa Kabaka’  by locals is getting thick after he was brutalized during an arrest and later tortured in military barracks.

His wife Barbara Itungo says he is gravely ill with internal injuries after one of his kidney was damaged during the brutal arrest .

On the other hand, President Museveni, quoting military medical sources, dismisses the reports, terming them “fake news”.

His wife Barbara had this to say “The only problem is that we could not get clear documented information from the doctors to confirm. However, he also told me that one of his kidneys is injured,” she said.It is hard to verify the extent of the damage on my husband’s life because of the damages seem to be internal.”

On Saturday, Mr Wine's lawyers, Lukwago and Company Advocates, also released a statement indicating that the doctors confirmed his kidney had been damaged and this is what he had to say. “One of Hon Kyagulanyi’s kidneys was damaged, he suffered internal bleeding, he is experiencing excruciating pain in the hip and head yet no scan or X-ray examination had been conducted,” the lawyers stated. No clear indication that the military barracks is equipped with necessary facilities to handle his deteriorating health.”

The family of Mr. Wine and his lawyers are now demanding that he should be released immediately from the military hosipital where he is bedridden and  under the watch of the military.

10 Reasons For Missed Periods...

1. Stress

   A sudden, short illness or even a longer illness can cause your periods to be delayed. This is usually temporary. If you think this is the reason that your period is late, talk to your practitioner about when they expect your period to return.
3. Change in Schedules
   Changing schedules can really throw off your body clock. This is particularly true if you go from days to nights at work or vice versa. If you frequently change shifts and notice a problems with regular cycles, then see if it is possible to be put on a more permanent shift or at least a shift that only varies after a lengthier time period.
4. Change in Medications
   Perhaps you're trying a new medication and a delayed or absent period is the cause. Be sure to talk to your doctor or midwife about this side effect. It is very common with some methods of birth control. If you change medications, be sure to ask what effects this may have on your period. This is true, even if you don't think that there will be a big change.
5. Being Overweight
   Carrying around too much weight can hormonally shift your cycles and even stop them. Most women will see a return to normal cycles and fertility with the loss of some weight, even if they are still considered overweight.

If you have irregular menstrual cycles, but know when you ovulate, look for your period about two weeks after you ovulate. That may help you keep an easier track of your periods.

   Peri-menopause is the period of time where you are transitioning from reproductive age to a non-reproductive age. Your periods may be lighter, heavier, more frequent or less frequent - but mostly just not normal.
